your bicycle

be prepared

Make sure your bicycle is in perfect working order at the start of sani2c. Riding conditions are severe, and it is advisable to replace any older parts before you set off for the 268 kilometre ride. Select tyres that are suitable for harsh conditions. You are likely to encounter substantial mud, seriously steep descents, jagged rocks and tough thorns. The use of tubeless tyres is highly recommended. Check your slime levels and top it up.

be bike-wise

Learn as much as you can about your bike before the event. This will help you detect and remedy faults before they become major problems. Bring your own perishables, like brake pads, slime, plugs, bombs, tubes, master links and lube. Bike retailers will provide repairs, servicing and replacement parts (at standard retail prices) in the race villages. However, their services are often in high demand. It helps to be as independent as possible.
