MAY 2019, EDITION 5

#morethanaride

A message from Farmer Glen

Dear 2019 KAP sani2c riders

With less than 6 weeks to go we are moving into time trail mode! Our route teams have picked up the pace and have been hard at work. They have already completed day 1 and 2’s initial route cleaning. We have completed two new sections which will add further enjoyment to our existing flowing trails. We are excited to tell you more about them! Watch out for our sani2c videos about this and other exciting developments on our social media channels.

We trust your training is going well and you are part of our Absolute Motion coaching program? If you worried about your skills join us for our next sani skills clinic arranged for the 6th April at Giba Gorge. Click here for more info. We would love for you to join!

For those of you wanting to test our floating bridges or some of our trails before Sani contact Bianca for a personalized skills/training weekend. You can also test out our newly built accommodation by our team of upskilled builders at Glencairn. Bianca will adapt your weekend activities according to your group’s ability. If you have never ridden the whole way up sani pass I suggest you add it to your bucket list! Making it to the top without putting a foot down means you well prepared for Iconic or anything any mountain bike event can throw at you. To contact Bianca email [email protected].

Although our trails are designed to be manageable for all levels of riders, by having better fitness, more confidence and better skills, you’ll enjoy your riding so much more.

If you can’t make any of the above please spend time in the saddle and get those pedals turning. I rode day 1 last week and was reminded that although it is the easiest of all 3 days it is still a tough day. The more prepared, the more you will enjoy your journey with us. So get out there and work on being the best you can be.

To help with your prep, please take note of all the points below. We will chat again soon.

I am off to continue sitting in my green tractor, to plant some nice green grass, which will hopefully keep all my cows happy while I abandon them for the month over joBerg2c and sani2c.

Please feel free to contact the event office at any time should you need anything: [email protected]

Keep those pedals turning!

Enjoy custom sani2c cycling kit

Enjoy have been a partner in our event for the last 3 years. They are amazing guys based in Cape Town who make awesome cycling kit. Their support to our event has been extremely valuable and this year they want to give back to our sani2c Community Development Trust, which is a PBO focusing on the educational needs along the sani2c route. Of every item of kit sold, 10% will go to the sani2c Community Development Trust! So, not only will you be getting cool kit made in your team colours at a 20% discount, but you will also be giving back to the communities along our route and joining the #morethanaride initiative. Click here for more info and to place your kit orders.

Warm clothing drive

This project was initiated 2012 after a suggestion from one of our riders. This initiative has proved to be a great success helping to strengthen our relationship with all those along the route.
We all have old jackets and items of warm clothing & blankets cluttering our cupboards. Bring any unwanted items of adult or children’s clothing with to registration at Glencairn and we will arrange to have it distributed along the race route after the event. This is one small way we are able to convey our thanks to the many people along the route who together allow us to have so much fun.
You would be amazed how appreciative they are for these items of clothing we no longer need.

Car shuttles

Bookings are open for the car shuttles. These are run by the various schools as a fundraiser. Click here to book and for more info.

Mobile homes, camper vans and private camping

To book a camper van site click here. This does not include a camper van. Drivers/supporters will not be allowed access into the race villages at Mackenzie Club & Jolivet; they will need to be self-sufficient.

We have got a list of the Black Mambas joining the club in 2019. Please can you have a look if you are on the list here. If you have married or have used a nickname on some of your past entries we may have missed you. If this is the case please contact the race office by emailing [email protected]
