After the recent devastating floods in KwaZulu-Natal, ‘Farmer’ Glen and his team ramped up the route prep and recovery to ensure all the trails are ready and in great condition for next week, with over 100 people working full-time for the few weeks available to them. He has now declared the KAP sani2c route race-ready, and on some sections, better than ever.
15 years after the first sani2c nonstop took place, the organisers are excited to introduce a new KAP sani2c nonstop on 3-4 June 2022.
The 2021 KAP sani2c was one of the best editions of the event yet, with perfect weather and trails in top condition, along with nail-biting racing at the front end of the Race. Three intrepid riders, now known as the Black Mamba Legends, have done every single sani2c (riders who finish the KAP sani2c ten times earn the title of Black Mamba). Flavio Scarpa from Scottburgh, George de Beer from Durban and Grant Macpherson from Hillcrest, were bitten by the sani2c bug in 2005, and have now each completed the event 17 times.
Scottburgh Golf Club, 15 May 2021. PYGA Euro Steel’s Matthys Beukes and Gert Heyns and Motorlease Perigon’s Robyn de Groot and Amy McDougall are the 2021 KAP sani2c champions.
Jolivet Farm, 15 May 2021. Another exciting finish in the men’s race at stage 2 of the KAP sani2c, but PYGA Euro Steel’s Matthy Beukes and Gert Heyns managed to extend their overall lead by nearly 4 minutes as they charged across the line in a time of 03:24:32 (GC 06:14:45)
